Alysia Garmulewicz
Director of the Youth Climate Change Conference 2005
When she was 15, Alysia entered a contest to go to the Antarctic;
she won, and had an incredible experience in the untouched
continent. But when she returned to Canada, she started hearing
about the effects of climate change on the Antarctic - the
snowed-in penguin nests, the melting glaciers - and decided
she had to do something. She started an Antarctic and climate
change education presentation, but felt she needed to do even
more. The idea for the Canadian Youth Climate Change Conference
2005 was born, and Alysia organized the Canada-wide youth
led conference that hopes to bring leaders together to challenge
and take the world's future into their own hands.
Alysia's conference had support from organizations and people
across the country, and will be the subject of a television
documentary, tons of articles and a great source of inspiration
for youth everywhere! To check out what happened at the conference,
