Ryan Hreljac
President of Ryan's Well Foundation
Ryan's grade one teacher first introduced him to Africa,
and the thousands of people who walk many miles for water
every day. Right away, he decided to build a well for a village
in Africa, and since then he hasn't stopped working to raise
money for clean water and sanitary conditions across the continent.
Ryan is now 13, and he's now raised over $1 million for projects
in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and other African countries.
He has brought partners from both governments and private
groups across the world to help; his story has even inspired
the mining industry to support building more wells!
Ryan received the Order of Ontario in 2004, he's a patron
for Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots Program, and his story
has been featured in magazines and newspapers from People
to the National Post. To get involved and find out more, go
